Mercedes A vs B Service Explained

Updated 24 Nov 2025

Mercedes uses two main service schedules — **A Service** and **B Service**. Knowing the difference helps you avoid unnecessary costs and keep your Mercedes running exactly as intended.

What Is a Mercedes A Service?

The A Service is your routine, lighter maintenance service.

A Service Includes:

  • Engine oil & filter replacement
  • Fluid level checks
  • Service indicator reset
  • Visual brake inspection
  • Tyre check & pressure adjustment

Interval: Every 10,000–15,000 km or 12 months

Cost: $249–$399

What Is a Mercedes B Service?

The B Service is more comprehensive and less frequent.

B Service Includes:

  • All A Service items
  • Cabin filter replacement
  • Detailed brake system check
  • Suspension & steering inspection
  • Diagnostic scan & fault reset

Interval: Every 20,000–30,000 km or 24 months

Cost: $399–$699+

Key Differences at a Glance

  • A Service = lighter maintenance
  • B Service = deeper checks + more parts
  • B Service takes longer labour time
  • B Service costs more due to added components

Why Correct Servicing Matters

Correctly following the Mercedes schedule ensures:

  • Warranty safety
  • Proper oil specifications
  • Long-term reliability
  • Early detection of issues
Incorrect oil or poor servicing can cause major failures — especially on turbo, DPF and AMG models.
